Dr. Donna Chambers
University of Sunderland, UK

Donna Chambers holds a PhD in Tourism Studies from Brunel University and has extensive experience of teaching and research in tourism. Currently she is Reader in Tourism at the University of Sunderland, UK, having previously lectured at the University of Surrey and Edinburgh Napier University.  Donna also has significant practical experience in tourism having worked in the tourism public sector in the Caribbean for five years prior to entering academia. Her research interests include heritage representation in tourism, tourism and sexuality, discourse, postcolonial and decolonial theories and critical and innovative approaches to tourism research. She has published in these areas and presented numerous papers at national and international tourism conferences. She is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) and is a regular reviewer for high quality tourism journals including Annals of Tourism Research.

 

 

 

Prof. Jafar Jafari
University of Wisconsin-Stout, USA

Jafar Jafari is Founding Editor, Annals of Tourism Research: A Social Sciences Journal; Chief Editor, Tourism Social Science (book) Series; Co-Chief Editor, Bridging Tourism Theory and Practice book series; Chief Editor, Encyclopedia of Tourism; Co-Founding Editor, Information Technology & Tourism; Co-Founder, TRINET: Tourism Research Information Network; and Founding President, International Academy for the Study of Tourism. A cultural anthropologist (PhD, University of Minnesota, USA) and a hotel administration graduate (BS and MS, Cornell University, USA), with an honorary doctorate from the Universitat de les Illes Balears (Spain) and the recipient of the 2005 United Nations World Tourism Organization Ulysses Award, he is Visiting Professor of the Universitat do Algarve (Portugal) and Sun Yat-sen University (China), international Program Director of the Universitat de les Illes Balears (Spain), and faculty member of the University of Wisconsin-Stout Department of Hospitality and Tourism (USA).

 

 

 

Prof. Pauline Sheldon
University of Hawaii, USA

Pauline J. Sheldon PhD is Professor Emerita at the University of Hawaii’s School of Travel Industry Management where she currently specializes in corporate social responsibility, sustainable tourism, wellness tourism and knowledge management in tourism. She holds a PhD in Economics, a Masters in Business Administration, and a Bachelors degree in Mathematics.
She is currently the Chair and Past President of the International Academy for the Study of Tourism. In 2008 she won the UNWTO Ulysses prize for her contributions to knowledge in sustainable tourism. In 2009 she was recognized with the International Travel and Tourism Research Association Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr. Sheldon co-founded the Tourism Education Futures Initiative (TEFI) with Dr. Daniel Fesenmaier; chaired the BEST Education Network. She also co-founded TRINET (Tourism Research Information Network) with Jafar Jafari which links over 3,000 tourism researchers worldwide.

 

 

 

Prof. John Tribe
University of Surrey, UK

Professor John Tribe is head of tourism at the University of Surrey, UK. His undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral studies were all undertaken at the University of London. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Fellow of the International Academy for the Study of Tourism and Academician of the Academy of the Social Sciences. His research concentrates on sustainability, epistemology and education and he has authored books on strategy, philosophy, economics, education and environmental management in tourism. He is past Chair of the UK Association for Tourism in Higher Education (ATHE) and past co-Chair of the UNWTO Education Council. He was the specialist advisor for tourism for the UK government’s 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) and is a member of sub-panel 26 for the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF). He is editor of Annals of Tourism Research and The Journal of Hospitality, Leisure Sport and Tourism Education (JOHLSTE).
