Tourism is unarguably the economic mainstay of most countries of the Caribbean, a region which has long been seen as the most tourism dependent region in the world. Consequently it is in the region’s best interest to manage all its resource to ensure the industry’s long term viability. In a region where most industry employees are not educated beyond the secondary level, the emphasis cannot be on education at the tertiary level alone. There must be more comprehensive offerings at the secondary level. Sustainability in tourism is not attainable without broadening the knowledge of workers and residents of tourism centered communities. FULL ABSTRACT ATTACHED.
